The 2007-08 Big Island Press Club scholarship winners were announced at the club's annual Scholarship Dinner on Aug. 3. Mitchell Byars
received the $1,500 Robert C. Miller award for his outstanding work with the Konawaena
High School paper. The 2007 KHS grad is now studying at the University
of Colorado at Boulder.
Brittany
Petersen,
who was also awarded a BIPC scholarship in 2006-07, this year received
two $500 awards, the Yukino Fukabori and Steve Christensen
scholarships.
She’s a junior at Northwestern University.
Lynn Nakagawa, a 2007 Waiakea
High School grad won the $500 Jack Markey scholarship.She's now a freshman at the University of Hawaii at Manoa.
